"NO MATTER WHAT ANYBODY SAYS, YOU COULD ALWAYS USE MORE TOOLS."
The start of a new school year is not just a journey for educators and students, it's about parents, too! We've compiled a list of websites/resources for parents, caregivers, and families to help encourage your child’s success in school all year long.

French Websites: (click the bolded text for link to site)
Here are a few websites you could use to work on your child’s French sounds:
Bloups! A great game based App where students can listen to sounds and match them to their graphemes.
Apprendre A Lire: Excellent site where you can pick different French sounds and do some online activities with them
Phonetique: A website where students can listen to words to see if they can identify words with similar or different sounds. Not as user friendly as the first two options and might be more suited for grades 3-5.
SONGS WITH WORDS TO SING ALONG
Another great way to learn French sounds is through music. Youtube has a channel with traditional children songs ( that also have the words) called Comptine et Chansons. Have your child listen and sing along to some of these children's songs. This will help with their reading and pronunciation.
While there are many songs here, my favourite ones are those that start with a reddish brown curtain opening up a stage. Here are some direct links to some of my favourites.
1. Ah les crocodiles
2. Savez-vous planter les choux?
3. Sur le pont d'Avignon
4. À la claire fontaine
5. Ainsi font, font, font, les petites marionettes
6. Chère Élise
READING
Encourage your child to read as much as possible in French and English. If you are looking for resources in French, The Mediatèque is a French library in Lethbridge and is located across from the Coast Hotel. They have tons of books and videos and they also do a lot of French activities in the evenings and on weekends.
FRENCH MATH WEBSITES
A fantastic website students can use is Netmath. It covers most outcomes in Alberta curriculum ( grade 3-11) and the activities are very user friendly and it is in French! Parents can also monitor progress.
Another similar resource is XtraMath. It is available in French and English. Here they can practice basic math facts and parents can receive a progress report.
Another website students can visit is MathFrog which is from the University of Waterloo and it has games in both French and English for grade 4-6.
